FPFK Embakasi and FPFK Kawangware Churches once again emerged as the champions in this year’s Nairobi Region Men’s Sports Day football and volleyball games, respectively.
This is after FPFK Embakasi Church beat FPFK Eastleigh Church in the finals 4-2, and as Kawangware beat FPFK Embakasi 3-0 in the finals in the games played last Saturday 16, 2025 at Gicharani Primary School Grounds in Gikambura.
In last year’s games played in August at FPFK Embakasi Church’s Uzima Grounds, Embakasi won in football after beating FPFK Ongata Rongai and Kawangware 1-0.
Kawangware on the other hand in volleyball beat Eastleigh, Ongata Rongai and Waithaka 2-0.
Nine teams representing eight churches participated in the games and included Ngando, Embakasi, Kawangware, Embul bul, Dagoreti, Ongata Rongai, Gikambura, Waithaka and Eastleigh.
In the football finals, Dagoreti beat Eastleigh 3-2 goals as Embakasi thrashed Rongai 4-2, thus Embakasi declared winners.
The Embakasi goals were scored by Mwamba, Wanga, Makau and Omachi in the first.

“We had planned ourselves properly, we have been doing practice always and since we were champions of last year, we went there prepared very well to win and retain the championship,” said Boniface Makau, FPFK Embakasi Church team captain.
Kawangware, Ngando, Gikambura and Embul bul did not participate in football games due to a lack of enough players for a team of 11.
In volleyball Pool A where there were Kawangware, Eastleigh and Ngando, Kawangware beat Ngando 3-0 sets to win the game. It also beat Eastleigh 3-0.
William Oreck, FPFK Kawangware captain saud winning of Kawangware in three consecutive years is due passion and dedication.

“Another thing is training hard. This year, in Kawangware team players were 40 years plus, the youngest player was 47 years old the oldest was 56 years,” said Oreck.
He added: “The secret Kawangware has is that we are training daily for 5 hours per day, and you can come and confirm at Kawangware BP stage inside Ruruta Stadium, where we have different categories including 10 to15 years, 18 to 25 years then veterans 35 to 60 years, so it is hard Kawangware to be bitten in volleyball in any given chance infact this time around we were only five against all churches.”
In Pool B, which had Embakasi and Rongai, Embakasi beat Rongai 3-1, making Embakasi top in Pool B, then Kawangware in Pool A.
In football, FPFK Dagoreti’s Pastor Tom Ogwagwa was crowned the man of the match while in volleyball, William Oreck was the most valuable player.
The winners received acknowledgement after financial constraints affected the purchase of trophies.
Nairobi Region Men chairman George Okode said this is the third edition of sports for evangelism to equip men for positive relationships.
“We had intended to have 12 churches participate but only eight attended. Nevertheless, we achieved our objective of bringing men together and carried out evangelism at the event,” said Okode.
He thanked FPFK Gikambura through Pastor Raphael for hosting the event.
Okode said they plan to table the idea of having a national sports day in the upcoming Men’s Conference to bring all the men together through congregating in other regions during sports day.
