Strengthening cross-border collaboration for GBV prevention

Last week we facilitated a pivotal meeting of the cross-border committee in Uganda, bringing together Kenyan and Ugandan authorities and stakeholders. The session, held on Friday, 13th March, was focused on enhancing coordination to effectively handle Gender-Based Violence (GBV) cases across the border.

Key outcomes from the discussions included a deep dive into the contextual trends and patterns of GBV, as well as a review of the committee’s membership to ensure robust implementation of agreed actions. We are proud to announce that representatives from FPFK and the PCU church have been officially included in the committee, recognizing the vital role of religious organizations in representing communities on both sides of the border.

The committee is co-chaired by the Tororo Resident District Commissioner (Uganda) and the Deputy County Commissioner, Teso North Sub County (Kenya), demonstrating a strong, unified government commitment to this cause.

This activity is implemented by Malaba Gender Advocacy project under FPFK and supported by IAS Danmark
